Norah loves silky

Early on you formed an attachment to a fuzzy rabbit with a silky dress. We named it silky. It was first “her silky”, then shortened to “silky”. Anyway, it’s so adorable to see how much you love her.

You love mommy, you love daddy, but you really love silky. We dread the day when we lose silky for good. There have been some close calls though. Many good Samaritans have picked her up in grocery stores and chased us down to return your toy.

Probably the most memorable silky moment was when PaPa ran a city block with you in hand to retrieve it so that you would nap for him while Hannah was going through a battery of tests in the NYC Emergency room.

I know there will come a day when we don’t have to worry about silky because you’ll have outgrown it, so for now I’ll enjoy how much you love this dirty little rabbit.

Potty Training

We’ve begun potty training with you. Tiny kids on potties is always very cute. You are of course among the cutest. It’s funny because before we started you always wanted an excuse to get down from the dinner table and go potty like your sister. You would say “I gotta go PeePee”…now when we ask you you’re not as enthusiastic:

mommy: Norah can you please go PeePee?

Norah: I no wanna go PeePee.

I no wanna, or I no like it is something your saying a lot now as you’re learning to assert your newfound independence.

So much personality

I can’t believe how much personality you have at such a young age.

You’re only 18 months now, but you are so expressive and thoughtful.

This afternoon, you and your sister were watching a show in the living room, sitting in our wingback chairs. You got down to bring something to us, and I said, do you want me to help you get back in your chair, to which you nodded your head and turned to walk away. I followed you to the chair and when you got there you put your finger down on the seat and looked up at me. It was precisely clear what you wanted help with.

Tonight when I was putting you to bed, after we finished reading your books, you said “Ah Bush you”…which at first I didn’t understand, but then realized you were saying “I bless you”, which is the song we sing every night before you go to sleep. As I began to sing it you sang along to I bless you …. and hummed along on the parts you couldn’t say. After we finished singing our song, you were playing with me by trying to lick my face, which is an incredibly adorable gesture from such a tiny little child. I might see you as younger than you really are, but you continue to impress me with just how much personality you have, just how much you try and how much you say.

Trick or Treating at 3 years old

This is more of a post for you since you will remember it more clearly, but your sister really enjoyed trick or treating too. This year you dressed as a ballerina. You were so adorable, we even had to walk at your pace because you were doing your dance moves while we were walking from house to house. You got more candy than you will be able to eat, so I’ve got the job of divvying it up for the next year or so.

Gogo and Papa came over, we went trick or treating around our new neighborhood, then we had some birthday dessert for Gogo, and you helped her blow out her candle.
