Norah takes on the diving board

Hannah and Norah have been taking these swim lessons at our pool. Both of them have shown tremendous progress. Yesterday, Norah dec taking these swim lessons at our pool. Both of them have shown tremendous progress. Yesterday, decided to jump off of the diving board in the deep end without her floaties. I swam out to help her the first time she jumped in, but quickly recognized she didn’t need my help. Below is a video of Norah not only jumping in the water, but doing toe touches while she does it.

At the time of this writing, Norah was 4 years, 8 months, 14 days old.

Time Out

You’re starting to assert your will and test your boundaries more now.

Lots of times when mommy or daddy say no do something, you smile and try it again. This usually results in a swat on the bottom or a hand smack, to which you always act so surprised.

You were being particularly difficult one night and Mommy put you in timeout (on the first stair). Mommy put you in timeout for 1 and a half minutes, when you started to get up, mommy would put you back down and repeat until you stayed. I guess now you’ll know what Hannah’s doing when she’s sitting at the bottom of the stairs.

At the time of this writing, Norah was 1 year, 6 months, 14 days old.

At the time of this writing, you were 3 years, 9 months, 15 days old.

First!

Mommy put you in timeout for the first time. You didn't really understand what that was about at first, but we think you're catching on.

Challenges

You're learning your boundaries, so obedience is the main challenge right now. Especially when we give you a verbal command, like "Norah Stop", or "Come here and get your diaper changed". Usually you go the other way and laugh.

I love you!

Every time mommy leaves your room when she puts you down for nap time or night night, she always says that she loves you. Today when mommy put you down and was leaving the room, she said, “love you!” and then you said it back! For the first time ever! It was so sweet!

Sleeping through the night

In the last week you have started to consistently sleep through the night. You started to sleep longer stretches at first (you’d wake up at 4am then sleep until 8), then you started to sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning, then in the last week you started to sleep from the time we put you down at night until the next morning until 8 of 8:30. I’m soooo excited about this. I’m finally getting a full nights sleep!

The reason for this sudden change is because of mommy weaning you from nursing and from drinking a bottle too.

Love u!

Walking and talking..

You are really starting to take off with your walking. You try to walk from one place to the next more often and are getting better at it every day.

This week you also started saying two new words, “light” and “apple”.You said, “apple” tonight at dinner and it was so clear. It made me realize how big you are getting. You are almost one!

First words

You have started talking! Your first words were “hey and hi.” You say them all the time and wave….AND it is so cute.

Since then you have started saying so many new words. The words are not super clear yet but you are definitely trying. You can say, “mommy, mama, papa, and bye-bye(bah-bah).” You say “night-night” too when mommy leaves your room at night. It sounds closer to”bye, bye”. But it is precious.

I love you, Norah.
